1. What project do you think taught you the most this semester?
I think the cartoon project taught me the most about PP this semester.
2. How do you like blogging? Do you plan to continue with your blog eventhough I'm not going to be posting topics for you to blog about?
I'm not very fond of blogging, and no I don't plan to continue once this is done.
3. What did you learn from the Coffee Geek Squad project? What changes do I need to make?
I liked the check idea, but maybe you need to up the workers' pay from $1 to something more.
4. Did the snacks that I brought influence you to do your work and behave appropriately (better work ethic = higher paycheck)?
I don't remember getting any snacks. But then again I've missed alot of days.
5.Career/Future Visitors: Was it helpful for these individuals to visit and talk about your future goals? Would you rather just read about careers online?
I think if you would've polled and seen what people wanted to be later in life and tried to get people of those professions to come, then it would haven been more interesting and enlightening.
6. Any other comments?
This semester was great! :D

Gift Cards
What are your thoughts? Would you rather receive a gift or a gift card? What would you rather give?
I'd rather have a gift card b/c I'm so picky and so I wouldn't offend someone if I never wore/used their present. I'd give a person my age a gift card unless I knew EXACTLY what they liked or if it was a boyfriend or something b/c people are so picky. I wouldn't give one to an adult though b/c thats pretty much like giving them money when they already have it. So i'd give them a more personal gift.

Chorus Concert
I saw several of my students in the audience. If you went, what are your thoughts? If you didn't go, comment on the last performance of the CHS Choir you've had the chance to hear.
The concert went wayyy better than i thought it would. Everything ran smoothly. We had like two minutes to change between scenes though, so that was pretty difficult. My only issue was the sopranos on the cantata; we didn't blend as well as we should have.

Aircar
Do you think this is the car of the future? What's your thoughts on this car?
I think that car is going to get popular with the rich people, but it is also going to be the cause of some serious accidents. I don't know much about it, but I'm sure it's going to pose many hazards.

Christmas
Who all are you planning to buy for this Christmas? Will you use your own money or does your parents/guardian give you money to spend? If using your own money, have you been saving up for this time of year? How important is it that you stay on budget (don't spend more that you've planned)?
I plan to buy for my entire (immediate) family and for my "brother" El (at the expense of my parents of course). Usually I spend about as much as I plan to or less because once the money's gone my parents aren't going to give me anymore.

Thanksgiving
What were you the most thankful for this Thanksgiving?
I'm thankful that my family and me are alive and safe. I'm also thankful for how far God has brought me in life and how blessed I am. I'm also glad God blessed my family with great cooks cause Thanksgiving was the BOMB. lol.

What are your thoughts on these results? Do you believe them or not based on your experience and here at CHS? What does CHS need to do to educate and prevent these statistics from being so high?
I definately believe these results are accurate, and that's terrible. I think that teens need to step up and make improvements on their own. People are going to do what they want regardless, but CHS would be doing their part having some type of program to educate young women on the risks of all this.

Sharing Computer Information
What do you think about knowing your friends' passwords -- school login, myspace, email, etc? Would you share your information with anyone else? What are the risks involved?
I would NEVER give my information to anyone, boyfriend, parent, whatever. People might delete your accout, say things to people that you didn't intend to be said, and other stupid things. It's too much of a risk and people are too vindictive nowadays. What if a b/f knew about a password and you broke up? They could do all kinds of things.

Year's Almost Over
Yay! This semester is almost done! I'm soooo glad. I only have to endure my horrible schedule for 3 more miserable weeks. Hopefully, I'll have much better classes for the remainder of the year. The best part of the school year is about to come; grad nite, jr/sr, prom, and ah yes, the epitome of high school events: graduation. I love the some of the people and teachers here, but when I leave, CHS will not be missed.

Jim Jones
This event happened way before your time...and mine, but it was a horrible tragedy. Use the net to research this day. Who was Reverand Jim Jones? What happened?
He was the pastor that spiked the punch with cyanide, telling them to commit mass suicide, and killed 900 members of his church.

Trojans
Did you go to the game? What are your thoughts on the game and the rest of the playoff season?
I proud of the boys and their day of redemption. I'm glad they proved all these hatin Coffee County people wrong. I hope they continue on and at least make it out of this lil "Sweet 16 rut" that the Coffee football team has been in so long. Losin in the 2nd round. Hopefully they'll make it past there and show everybody up.

Business
If you could start your own business tomorrow, what would it be? My choice is simple. I would enroll in a culinary institute and complete a degree in Pastry & Baking. Then, I would open my own speciality cake & gourmet dessert shops. For now, I just have to keep dreaming... :) I love teaching and being around all of you all, but I'm not sure it's my absolute passion. I think I would be happiest owning my own business.
I wouldn't want to own my own business.

What are your thoughts on this very odd story?
How would you explain that to the kids? That's not natural. Kinda sick if you ask me.

Vets Day
What is it? Why is it such an important day for you and others?
It's a day that honors the Veterans. It's important because it honors those and the families of those who have served and died in the wars.

What did you do this past weekend?
I went to the game and the bowling alley (for free!) Friday. I went to the Peking House and chilled at a friend's house Saturday. I went to the movies to see Role Models Sunday.

#50 (Well, 51 For Me)
This is blog #50. You are halfway to 100. :) What do you think your life will be like when you are 50?
I pray that I'm in good health and able to watch my children and grandchildren grow up. Hopefully I'll be close to retirement with a big house on the coast, living alone (or however that works out) and just enjoying the rest of my life and money.

Car
If you could buy any vehicle you wanted today regardless of price or availability, what would it be?
I'm not sure. It's out of the 09 Murcielago (Lamborghini) and the 09 Jag. The new Jag is more sleek and my style though.

Electoral College
What are your thoughts on the electoral vote? Is it a fair system?
No, I think that it's unfair. It doesn't always represent the people's choice. Take the 2000 election for example. Gore won the people's vote, but Bush won the most electoral votes, so he won. That makes people not want to vote b/c they feel like their vote doesn't make a difference. But yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy Obama won! Isn't the world happy????? They should be. Also, I feel like a candidate's stand on issues they have no control to change IS NOT a good nor valid reason to vote for a person. I seriously can't believe people are actually going to disregard the state of the economy, disregard how a certain candidate's policy may have a negative effect on people other than themselves, and vote for a person who dislikes something they dislike even though this person has absolutely NO control to change it. Omg, c'mon man.

Do you believe any old wise tales or superstitions like these? Why or why not? Where did the breaking a mirror superstition originate?
No I don't believe in superstitions b/c they are nothing but explanations old people made up b/c they wanted to scare people. I have no idea where the "breaking a mirror" superstition originated.

1. YOU SKIP SODA (EVEN DIET)
2. YOUR LEGS ARE STRONG
3. YOUR MOM HAD YOU YOUNG
4. YOU EAT AND DRINK PURPLE THINGS
These are 4 ways to prolong your life according to a recent article on Yahoo. Read the article (http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/health/4-surprising-signs-you-ll-live-a-long-time-290919/). What are your thoughts on these research findings? Do you believe them? Do any of these signs already apply to your life? How old do you think you'll live to?
I think that the ideas have merit to a certain extent, but if you think about it, even people who apply to all four could get involved in a fatal accident at an early age. None of them apply to me so there's no telling when I might die.

I had a very busy, but boring weekend. I didn't get to see the Trojans beat Valdosta due to rain. I had to take the ACT and volunteer Saturday, so I didn't get to do anything I wanted, like going to the Sweet Potato Festival. Yesterday, I was occupied with essays til 3 AM.

Charge
An 89-year-old Ohio woman faces a charge of petty theft because neighborhood children say she refused to give back their football.
Edna Jester was placed under arrest last week and taken to the police station in the Cincinnati suburb of Blue Ash. Police say there had been an ongoing dispute over the errant football and a child's father called to report that Jester kept the ball after it landed in her yard. Blue Ash Police Capt. James Schaffer says police warned Jester twice and finally arrested her after she refused to accept a citation. She must appear in mayor's court next month.
Jester said Monday she didn't have time to discuss the incident, saying she has received many phone calls about it.
What are your thoughts on this CNN news article?
That's crazy to charge an old lady with theft. They should have just bought another ball. But at the same time, she should have complied with the police's orders; she should have just given the ball back.

Names
My little neice in this picture is named Kyleigh Laverne. Laverne was my paternal grandmother's name. She was one awesome lady and although Laverne may not be the prettiest name out there, it is a name to be cherised within our family. If you had a child tomorrow, what would you name it?
If I had three girls I'd name them Keiyata Chante, Keiyara Melai, and Keiyana Jhene. If I had a boy, I'd name him Marcus Demari.

Debate
The last debate was last night and with only a few weeks left until the election, the campaign is heating up. I didn't get a chance to watch last night's debate since I was at church, but I plan to catch up with last night's happenings on CNN later today. Did you watch the debate? If you did, what were the big topics? Did the debate change your mind about who you are going to vote for? If you didn't watch, why didn't you? What did you do instead?
I went to the middle school championship in Tifton. I'm sick of the debates; all they do is play the blame game.

Kindness
What do you think about this incident? Have you ever had anything like this happen to you before? Have you ever did this for someone else? What are some simple random acts of kindness you could do to make the world a better place?
That was nice of him. Yes, I've had a manager give me my food for free for no reason. I haven't done anything that extreme, but if somebody needed me to, I would. Just people being nicer to each other could make the world a better place.

Write at least a paragraph (at least 5 sentences) about anything. It's your choice...just keep it clean.

Debate
Did you watch the debate between McCain & Obama last night? If so, what are your thoughts? If not, read this article http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/presidential_debate and then express your thoughts. I'm not asking for you to tell me which candidate you are in favor of, but to give an educated opinion on the debate.
Yes, I had to watch the debates for my economics class. I hate debates b/c they do more finger pointing than asking questions. I feel like Obama really brought some important issues to the table, but some of the questions he didn't really answer. I feel like McCain did a really good job, but it was obscured by his constant finger-pointing.

Look back at your very first posting on this blog. Have you met any of the goals on your list at this point? Do you need to revise (add or take off) the goals? Did you meet all the goals you set for 1st 9 weeks grades? Explain.
They only goal I feel like I've met is maintaining my rank. The others are more gradual, with the exception of college applications. I've just been procrastinating with that. I REALLY should get on that. The list doesn't need revision, though.

Candy Kisses
While looking at a cooking magazine yesterday, I saw the oddest Hershey's Kisses ever -- Candy Corn. The description says that these kisses combine the sweet taste of an old-time kid favorite and the smooth, creamy flavor of white chocolate. Have you ever tasted one before? What do you think about them? Do you plan on buying a package of these kisses this Halloween season?
My chorus teacher gave me one. They're alright, nothing I'd waste my money on though.

Lottery
If you won a million bucks in the lottery, what would you do? (Although Ms. Gay does not condone the lottery...gambling can become an addiction that ruins lives.) List at least 5 things you would do with the money. Use a bulleted list.
- Pay all my immediate family's debts
- Give money to other family/friends/church
- Put aside enough for college
- Go on a shopping spree
- Buy a Beemer (BMW for the squares out there
- Save the rest (If there's any left ;D)

Economic Crisis
What are your thoughts on the economic crisis? Should there be a bailout by the government? If the bailout is not passed, what do you think is going to happen? Why are these corporations failing?
My concerns fall on Fannie Mae && Freddie Mac. Why was this governmentally funded corporation not regulated? Why wait until they get over a trillion dollars in debt to do someting?
And how come nobody saw this coming? I mean, I think that some type of precautionary measure should have been taken wayyy before now.
I think the government should have to fix this. If not, soooo many people will be without jobs. I'm not exactly sure what's causing it, but they need to find a solution, QUICK!

Weekend
What all did you do this past weekend? Go to the game in Moultrie? Go to church? etc.
Friday, unfortunately, I stayed home. I didn't get to go to the game, so I listened to it on the radio while watching my brother play. Saturday, I washed cars with the other people that are going to Grad Nite. Later that night, I went to PJ's house, and he cooked for us. After that, we went bowling and Jazz, Corey, I went on a random trip to Wal-Mart.

Sleep
I went to bed at 7 pm last night! I typically don't get in bed until after 11 pm. After a week and a half of revival at church, I was TIRED. I love going to bed early, but seldom do. How late do you typically stay up? Can you tell a difference in your school work when you go to bed early or stay up extremely late? Explain.
I don't go to sleep past 11 if I don't have to. If I can, I go to sleep earlier than that. Only if I have homework, like last night, do I stay up late. I stayed up to 2 last night. The latest I've stayed up is like 4 o'clock.

Army
How did yesterday's Army representatives influence your future choices? Are you now contemplating an army career after high school?
I didn't influence me at all; I still plan to go to college on a academic scholarship. I have no intentions to go into the Army.

Drinking Age
Channel One has recently been talking about the push by some to change the legal drinking age. Should it be changed from 21 to 18? Why or why not? Pros and cons to the change? Read the information
I don't really care. I don't drink, and I don't plan to. If people want to drink at 18, they're going to regardless of whether they limit is at 21 or not. It might cause more accidents and mishaps to lower it, but if a person can serve their country at 18, it's only fair they be able to drink.

Speaker
What was your overall impression of the speaker? Did you enjoy the presentation? Do you think the speaker's presentation will aid you in your post secondary (college, tech, trade school, military, etc.) and career choices? What didn't you like about the presentation? Should Ms. Gay continue having speakers come into our class?
I think he was a nice, honest man. I think having a speaker is nice every now and then just to be doing something different. However, I don't like the idea of having to listen to someone speak every Wednesday; it gets monotonous and boring. They all might have different jobs, but it's typically the same thing: working from 8-5 Monday though Friday. I think it might be a good insight to people if they plan to go into that field though.

McCain's daughter
I discovered John McCain's daughter's blog this morning. http://www.mccainblogette.com/ She is 23 years old and is blogging about her experience on the campaign trail. She is on the verge of possibly becoming the President's daughter. Already she is experiencing being followed around by secret service agents, but that will become a constant part of her life if her dad wins the election. Read some of her blog. It's quite interesting! How would you handle being constantly followed by someone? Would you welcome or resent the protection? Write on paragraph (5 sentences +) describing your thoughts.
I wouldn't mind being in the public eye, but when I have security constantly following me, I'd get aggervated. I wouldn't have any privacy. That'd be pretty annoying. I'd kind of be mad at my dad b/c I would feel like it's his fault. But either way, it doesn't matter b/c she's going to have to deal with it regardless.

911 Dog
PHOENIX, Arizona (AP) -- "Man's best friend" doesn't go far enough for Buddy -- a German shepherd who remembered his training and saved his owner's life by calling 911 when the man had a seizure. And it's not the first time Buddy has been there for owner Joe Stalnaker, a police officer said Sunday. On a recording of the 911 call Wednesday, Buddy is heard whimpering and barking after the dispatcher answers and repeatedly asks if the caller needs help."Hello, this is 911. Hello ... Can you hear me? Is there somebody there you can give the phone to," says the dispatcher, Chris Trott. Police were sent to Stalnaker's home, and after about three minutes Buddy is heard barking loudly when the officers arrived. Scottsdale police Sgt. Mark Clark said Stalnaker spent two days in a hospital and recovered from the seizure."It's pretty incredible," Clark said. "Even the veteran dispatchers -- they haven't heard of anything like this." Clark said police are dispatched whenever 911 is called, but that Stalnaker's address was flagged in Scottsdale's system with a notification that a trained assistance dog could call 911 when the owner was incapacitated. Clark said Stalnaker adopted Buddy at the age of 8 weeks from Michigan-based Paws with a Cause, which trains assistance dogs, and trained him to get the phone if he began to have seizure symptoms. Buddy, now 18 months old, is able to press programmed buttons until a 911 operator is on the line, Clark said.Clark said Buddy has made two other 911 calls when Stalnaker was having seizures. He said Stalnaker's seizures are the result of a head injury he suffered about 10 years ago during a military training exercise.Copyright 2008 The Associated Press. That's awesome. I really think this is good thing for people of old age or people who have injuries. It helps them get the help they need in an emergency. This could become a big thing in the future if this article gets enough publicity. Then again, it may be too expensive.

Homecoming 2008
Write a pargraph (at least 5 sentences) about Homecoming Week 2008. What was your experience? If you're a Junior or Senior, how did this year compare to last year? Did you go to the parade, game, or dance?
Friday was fun. I'm glad I got to be part of the Homecoming Court experience, whether I won or not. I had fun on the float and on the field. I'm proud of Jaquayla and Terrica, and I'm shocked at how pretty Laken was. It was a nice experience. Things went downhill after Friday night, though, but I still thank God for the good time I did have.

Love
It's better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all. ~ Alfred Lord Tennyson. Do you agree? Explain.
Yeah, I agree as long as yoou get to love again. If you love God, you won't lose anything.

Abandoned
A visitor to Beijing's National "Bird's Nest" Stadium was shocked to find a new-born baby abandoned in one of the venue's toilets, local media reported on Wednesday. The baby, later identified as a girl, was found by a woman around noon on Tuesday at the Bird's Nest, which is currently holding athletics events for the Paralympic Games, the Beijing Times said."The woman told venue staff that there was a newborn baby in the toilet, with blood still on its body," the paper said. Volunteers and staff searched for the mother for two hours to no avail, then sent the baby to a hospital. The baby was in good health and was feeding, the paper said, citing people with knowledge of the situation, but said the whereabouts of the mother remained unclear. Authorities were investigating, the paper said. What are your thoughts on this article? Why do you think the mother did this? Write at least a 5 sentence paragraph expressing your thoughts.
People are crazy this day in time. She obviously didn't want it, but I think its stupid to put the child on the toilet. She could have left it at the hospital, or put it up for adoption. At least the baby's healthy though. And how didn't anybody see the pregnant lady? I mean if the baby had blood on it, the lady obviously had to have it there.

Video Music Awards
Did you watch the MTV's Video Music Award Show on Sunday? What did you think about Britney Spears performing? Who was your favorite performer? Do you watch it for the music or just to see what the artists are going to wear or say? If you didn't watch, why not?
Actually, I didn't watch it, but have just noticed some mention of the award show on every news page on the web...and wonder if Brittney Spears really thinks she can have some kind of great comeback after the world just wondering if she's completely psycho -- shaving her head, drug overdose ER rants, improper care of her kids, etc. I honestly think she's a horrible role model and wonder what MTV is doing promoting her so.
I hate awards shows; they're too long and drawn out just to give out 10 awards. All that excessive performing is unnecessary; all I want to see is who wins, which really shouldn't take more than an hour. On the Britney topic, I think everyone should mind their own business and leave her alone. If that's the way she chooses to live her life, that's her; no one in this world is in any postition to judge her. If all that was going with you, would you want the media constantly publisizing your problems? I know I don't. And she may be a bad role model, but it's not like she's performing at the Kid's Choice Awards; it's the VMA's, everything's risque.

Budget Cuts
I wouldn't normally share such personal and disgusting news *haha*, but last night I was up vomiting. Typically, I wouldn't be here today because I still feel rather sickly, but with the new policy regarding substitutes in place I felt I must come to school today even though I have at least 12 sick days left for the year. If you haven't heard, your teachers will no longer be able to call in a sub due to budget issues at the Board of Education. Instead, the teachers that are at school will have to cover a teacher's class when a teacher is absent. How do you think this will affect your teachers and you?Write at least a 5 sentence response.
I don't like the idea of that at all. I think that puts subs, as well as teachers, in a bad position. && then that means there's no more Mr. Farris. If I was a teacher and I had to teach during my planning, I'd be really annoyed w/ the school system. Instead of cutting subs, I think they should cut something else, like the number of principals at the schools or something.

Republican presidential nominee John McCain chose Sarah Palin as his running mate last week. What are your thoughts on his choice? How will it affect his campaign? Do you think Hillary Clinton's supporters will be drawn to McCain since Palin is a female?
I hate politics; I think it's all a big corrupt system. I think using Palin is just a gimmick to get female votes, which isn't going to work out as they've planned b/c of the supporters behind Hilary. She has all her support behind Obama, so if there are women changing party lines to follow Palin, there won't be many. && I think that the Republicans are hypocrites for using Palin. Their biggest argument against Obama was that he was inexperienced, yet they go out and get someone who also lacks experience.

Pregnancy
As everyone has observed, teen pregnancy has been on the rise over the past 2 years. Why do you think this has happened? Is it related to peer pressure? Accidental? Planned? Please write a one paragraph (at least 5 sentences) response. Your response should not include specific people's names or contain graphic or vulgar wording.
I dont't have an opinion. If people choose to take that risk, that's their own fault. If they do it intentionally, I hope they're ready for the consequences. I don't know why the pregnancy rate is rising, but I'm pretty sure it's not because of peer pressure b/c everybody pretty much relies on their own thoughts when making a decision nowdays. I guess they do it to make themselves feel older w/ that type of responsiblilty, idk.

Break
The unexpected break this week was great. I caught up on a book I've been wanting to read, slept in, and finally made it back to Curves. What did you all do on your 2 day rain holiday? \
During this break, I slept most of Monday. Yesterday, I went to Douglas for a homecoming court meeting. Then, Terrica, Demea, Aunice, Jordan, Erin, Michelle, and I went to Danny's and ate. Then, Terrica, Aunice, Erin, and I went to Dresses and Dreams to look for a dress. We made Demea come along so we could have a boy's opinion as we tried on dresses.

What's the latest? Are you concerned about any weather issues? Do you have relatives or friends that live in FL that are being affected by this storm?
I haven't been keeping up w/ the storm, and I'm not concerned about it; it's only a category one. All I know is that I'm annoyed b/c all the surrounding counties don't have school and we do. Tift, Echols, Atkinson, Lowndes, Bacon all are out of school today. I have relatives in Miami, but I dont know if they've evactuated or how they're doing.

Assembly
What did you think about the assembly yesterday? Write a paragraph (at least 5 sentences).
The assembly was okay. It was better than I thought it would be. The rapper was pretty lame though. The "what would have happened room" was the best part. I enjoyed the motivational speech by the owner at the end.

Past 2 Days in C305...
Often CEOs have to be away from the office. The employees still have to be productive. Also, the employees are to take pride in their facilities and environment regardless if the CEO/Manager is there to watch over their shoulder. This didn't happen Monday & Tuesday in C305. Why not?How did the class behave? What did you observe happening? If you know any specifics, please report them to me without naming individual students on your blog.
The class behaved like regular. I don't know how many people finished, however, but there weren't any disruptions. We took forever trying to get everyone to sign the roll yesterday though.

Cheating
What are your thoughts on cheating? Explain your thoughts in a paragraph (at least 5 sentences).
I think cheating shows that you can't be trusted. If you cheat, you're only harming urslef in the end b/c when it comes down to things such as standardized tests, you won't be able to cheat. It also affects the person you cheat off of, if any. They worked hard, studing to get to the point where they are. If you cheat off them, it can really make them mad and show how lazy and irresponsible you are.

2008 Summer Olympic Games (China)
What are your thoughts on the Olympics being held in China? Have you been watching the Olympics this week? What effects will the killing of American visitors to the Olympics by a Chinese man have on the US's relationship with China?
I think its a big paradoxal mess. The Olympics is supposed to unite all the countries of the world; however, the killing of the US visitor shows just how much we are not united. Don't get me wrong, I like the opportunity it gives athletes to compete and show their abilities to the world, but this competition, in my opinion, creates more hostility b/w nations who are already hostile toward one another or who already have a strained relationship.
I watched a little of the Olympics, the tennis and swimming conmpetitions, but if it isn't football, it bores me.
